This is a
WWI US Contract British SPR Gas Mask with Green filter & Guard around Valve #2
Condition:
SBR Gas Mask - Fair condition. The gas mask is made of a layer of cotton cloth with a rubber layer attached to the underside. The cloth has no tears or holes. There are a few dark stains on the cloth. The rubber inside is in very poor condition. The rubber is extremely brittle and is falling apart. Most of the rubber lining is a black powder on the floor. The lenses appear to be made of glass. The lens have an orangish color. The rubber seal for the lens is dry and showing signs of cracking. The tube is made of a rubber with a cloth coating on the outside. The rubber is extremely stiff. It is unknown if its is damaged due to being concealed under a layer of cloth. The head straps are made of elastic and are extremely brittle. The flapper valve has been mostly removed. The flapper valve guard is still present.
SBR Box Filter - Fair condition. The filter is painted yellow. The yellow paint is untested for lead, but should be handled with care. There is heavy wear on the edges and corners of the filter canister. There is corrosion present on the canister. The rubber gasket on the bottom is present. There are a few dents on the bottom. There are no punctures in the canister.
SBR Information Tag - Good condition. The envelope has a few stains on it. The inside pamphlet has no tears, stains or holes. It has only been removed once and has not been opened to preserve its condition. It feels as if all of the original contents are inside.
WARNING
- This is a collectors item for display ONLY. This gas mask SHOULD NOT be used for its intended use to filter air.
As with all used items, a light dusting may be necessary to meet your standards.
