I've dated this piece several ways first, knowing the history of where it came from. Second, it came from a jobbers 1 ft thick catalog that had 100's of inserts from the 1940's 50's and very 60's. Third, the sheet came out of a 1967 Edelmann catalog and finally, I've looked up old advertising with this product and packaging, and they are all from this time frame and era.
This is a really cool double sided jobbers sell sheet and what a great collectors piece. This sheet is clean, bright and black and white with nice edges and corners in great condition with just a little curling on the inner edge and a barely noticeable small stain on the inner edge. If you have one of the No. 45 hydrometers and a cool shop, garage, store, collection or you just like old vintage advertising. If so, than this would look really cool framed on your wall or in your own catalog!

    History of Edelmann & Co.
When Eric Edelmann founded the automotive products company that bears his name in Chicago in 1909, his product line consisted of a battery tester and push-pull control cables. Some years later he began manufacturing anti-freeze testers, automotive brass fittings and general products.
In 1959, E. Edelmann & Co. began distributing a line of power steering hose, and in 1960 took over production of the hose. The company initially manufactured power steering hose for 25 vehicles.
The 1970’s brought the addition of the Plews division and their lube equipment and air line products to the Edelmann family. Plews Manufacturing and Sales Corporation was originally founded by R.G. Plews in 1927. At that time, the railroad industry was the primary focus for the company’s extensive line of oil cans. As the transportation industry went from trains to passenger cars and trucks, Plews shifted their focus to developing the tools necessary to service this new mode of transportation. During the 1960’s and 1970’s, other products in the lubrication field were added including funnels, measures, grease guns and other service-related items. E. Edelmann & Co. officially changed their name to Plews/Edelmann in 1995.
In November of 1996, LubriMatic was acquired by Plews/Edelmann, complementing the already fine line of Plews lubrication equipment.  Originally founded by Edwin Phillip Sundholm in 1924 as Superior Manufacturing, they quickly became well known for selling grease guns for each while their competition sold them at a much higher price. Superior Manufacturing was acquired by another organization in 1993 and changed their name to LubriMatic.
Today, Plews & Edelmann is a leading designer, manufacturer and distributor of a broad range of automotive parts and tools sold to the vast majority of mass merchant and retail auto parts stores and wholesale automotive parts and industrial distribution outlets, worldwide.
R.J Loock History and Our Pick
These items were sourced from R.J. LOOCK which was a Baltimore Institution when it came to Automobiles. They operated at the same location : 339-345 N Gay st from 1913 until the neighborhood declined and the last heir retired in 2001. They were not your ordinary cookie cutter automotive parts store like you see today. They were parts distributors as well as jobbers for their own LIGHTNIN Parts line as well as for most of the top brands of the day. They sold: Auto supplies, Replacement parts, Garage equipment, Shop equipment, Tires, Tubes, Oil, Grease, Accessories  and they even had a Complete Machine Shop.
This may not sound different from an auto zone except Loock was responsible for placing products such as Champion Spark Plugs, Quaker State and Gates belts (to name a VERY few products) into EVERY private and municipal garage that used them in a 5 state area. long before the internet and trade shows, these guys were road warriors that sold stuff the hard way on a massive scale. As the 22 floors of samples that they left behind will attest... thats right... I said 22 FLOORS of Samples! R.J.Loock tried to sell ANY quality product that they thought had a chance . Of course, as jobbers they were responsible for placing advertising in the businesses that they catered to as well.
We were lucky enough to purchase salvage rights to this little treasure trove earlier this year. There was no working elevator and the buildings were 4 floors tall with a basement ................................. and they NEVER threw ANYTHING of value AWAY! It took us 2 months full time to sort through and we are just now starting to offer what we have found. If you like high quality out of the box advertising as well as MINT  automotive related collectibles, please bookmark us and keep checking back. I think you will be in for a treat.
    AND
If you are a beginning collector, theres stuff for you too. They had a habit of nailing signs around to cover holes and such so we will be offering those as well...please check out our store by

    About Us
Md Architectural Rescue is a different type of recycling company. We have operated in
    Baltimore
and surrounding areas since 1996. After starting out rescuing fireplace mantles and cast iron door locks from construction dumpsters, we have opened our eyes to may types of waste that are often over looked and fall through the cracks. Our focus is and always will be vintage items of the highest quality. But with our eyes now open we put a lot of effort in bringing you high end collectibles from every industry available and at a very reasonable price. All our items are salvaged and are for the most part American Made. One week we could be in an old School, Brewery, Factory, and the following week at a  Shipyard or Power plant, you just never know. Also, one day we may be removing Vintage lighting, the next day Signs and Vintage blueprints and the following day cleaning out a machine shop or high end parts room. We literally have NO idea what we have coming around corner, so make sure you add us to your favorites and check back often.
