    Description

    Howdy and Welcome Aboard!
This is a chance for the ashtray from US Air Forces Europe 'Special Air Missions' detachment at Wiesbaden.  While EATS handled troop flights, the Special Air Missions was the name for Executive and VIP service flights to and from European and US destinations.  Note the size of cigarette rests- they are large enough for cigars...as LeMay liked them.  Now there is no smoking on any flights.
Units from the 60th Troop Carrier Wing and the 7150 Composite Wing, which were stationed at Wiesbaden also were involved in Operation Vittles, the Berlin Airlift, in 1948-49, using C-54 aircraft such as the one shown here.  The 7110th Support Wing followed when the 60th left for Rhein-Main.
Based on the patches shown, aircraft and logos, this was probably in use in the early 1950s before the VIP aircraft transitioned to newer models such as the VC-121s, and other Wing units moved to the C-119, C-123s and C-82s.
It measures about 8 1/2" diameter.  Imagine the international VIPs carried by this unit- early Cold War, rebuilding Europe, Marshall Plan, etc.
Look at the pics and ask questions- shipping is free to US addresses, outside the US is through Global Shipping Program.
