    Description

RARE souvenir programs for the 41ST INFANTRY DIVISION ASSOCIATION, National Convention of 1958 at the Multnomah Hotel in PORTLAND, OR, (and another program for 1984) - these are for the annual reunions of the 41st that began in 1948, following their service in WWII; the 1958 one is grubby with light spotting to pages as well, it has stapled wraps, 20 pages, 9 photos of GIs in the tropics/Pacific Theater, a short history on the 41st in the war (Buna-Gona-Sananda, Salamaua, Hollandia, Wakde, Philippines, and occupation of Japan), photos of commanding generals, a page on Tokyo Rose, who declined an invitation to "spin a few platters" at the event, a racist phrase regarding the natives beneath one of the images, photos and text regarding actor/comedian JOE E. BROWN, who performed there, and several pages of advertisements for local Portland nightclubs, food and entertainment (some illustrated). The second one is very dry and boring, mostly plain ads. Both measure 5.5x8.5 inches. I can't find any other programs (for any year) for the 41st Infantry available for sale, and more importantly, I see none in the past 12 years of auction results.
Condition: Good/VG+ (the first has spotting and soil, light but prevalent, and some rippling; the second has just minor shelfwear).
(Vintage Paper & Ephemera, Program, Military, War, World War Two, Vets, Veterans, PDX, Oregon, History, 1950's, Collectable, Memorabilia)
