Straight from my personal collection, this original
Norman Rockwell illustrated ad from an American Weekly newspaper section
has been carefully cut from the magazine, and it has a nice and straight left edge. It has been folded across the middle, as this is how the newspapers were delivered. There are a few small edge tears, and a small chip out of the top edge. I see some light aging, mainly on the top, right, and bottom edges. The illustration is extremely vivid and fresh, against a nice and clean background.
The back side is actually the front cover of the Los Angeles Examiner Sunday section. The illustration is titled
“A Surprise Package” drawn by Carl Link
. As with the Rockwell ad, there are a few small edge tears, but this side has 3 pieces of white tape, covering 3 of the tears. This illustration is also vivid and fresh against a nice and clean background.
This is the only illustration Norman did for Wearpledge Clothes. Here a boy is showing off his new clothes, and his very impressed friend is checking the label. I'm sure you will want to show this off too, when you add it into either your Norman Rockwell, vintage fashion, or vintage magazine collection.
