Military Uniform Scarves, Yellow and Grey with U.S. SlideMy grandfather served as a captain in the Panama canal and as a lieutenant colonel in the US constabulary in Germany from 1946 through 1949. He was in charge of recruitment in the Heidelberg, Bamberg, and Stuttgart offices. He also served as a peace-time emissary in Korea (in Suwon and Seoul) and in Sa Dec and Hue Vietnam before the wars broke out. If you're interested, his name was Colonel Paul L. Webb. While I know he started as a captain in the 38th Army, 150th infantry, company K, 75th Battalion, (and was well known as a crack shot) I'm not sure where else he served. I now know he was involved with the Korean Civil Assistance as well as MAAG and was with the 6th Army in Korea. He was also at some point in the office of the Army Inspector General, but I don't know when or for what conflict.
He was involved with recruitment and training throughout his career.
Thanks to a very thoughtful buyer, I can now include a link that will show you the military dates of service for my grandfather. Eventually, the Truman library will also have a vast collection of photos, but they're still scanning. https://www.trumanlibrary.gov/library/personal-papers/paul-l-webb-papers#collect
I'm positive I've seen a picture of my Grandfather wearing the bib, but the pictures I found for this post are of him in Korea. In one photo, he's in his office, I think in Suwon, and the other photo mentions the Civil Assistance program. That photo has a blue cast, so keep in mind, the scarf was never that blue. Without the picture, I'm not sure what conflict the bib was from. The scarf has some stains, which I've tried to show in the pictures. They are slight. The bib has some discoloration, but it seems to be from the loss of dye, rather than a stain. Again, see the photos.
