Description
The item for sale is a 100 Korona bearer bond yielding 5 1/2% issued by the Kingdom of Hungary in 1918 in order to pay for expenses incurred by the War to End Wars as it was called at the time. The text on the front of the bond is in Hungarian while the back has information in German, French and English. There were coupons on the back that could be redeemed every six months for interest. Coupons for six of the ten years were redeemed, four were not. There is an embossed stamp in the paper. The bond is of historical interest. The Kingdom of Hungary, which is no longer a Kingdom, either defaulted on the bond or the rate of inflation far exceeded the bond yield or destroyed the value of the currency. The bond has a horizontal fold across the entire width. There are one or two flaws on the edge of the paper near the fold. More than half of the coupons have been clipped. The document size without the coupons is 10" x 16". The bond will be shipped folded.
