John Challis Clavichord. Condition is used. This is a very fine classic Challis. Originally from the 1940’s it was upgraded by Challis later and fitted with his signature aluminum soundboard which features and beautiful and unique square rose. This clavichord is acutely similar to what the late Ralph Kirkpatrick used in his recording of Bach’s Well Tempered Clavier. This clavichord is extremely stable and almost never goes out of tune. It is an excellent example of Challis and the wonderful craftsmanship he possessed. It needs a good and kind home. Overall, this instrument is extremely well cared for and is in excellent condition. Thank you for your interest. Sold as is and all sales final.
