  • Condition: Very good condition. The Onan P218 was refurbished, with new rings, bearings, valve job, and all new seals. No leaks. The tractor has all new hoses, and no leaks. This was supposed to be my final tractor. I got bored with it and fixed up a second tractor. This tractor was fixed the way I want them all to be fixed and without regard to time and parts. My new forever tractor is finished and I do not need two tractors this nice.

    Description

    I am the Hemlock Case Guy. I am very well known for having overly long for-sale posts. These long posts are a trademark of mine.
    I have a 4016PS-1. The dash 1 means it was a limited production model. So, it is rare. I know of 2 others but none of us have really pressed it much with serial numbers and such.
    This tractor has been mine for quite a few years. I am the Hemlock Case Guy. I am a master of under the hood. I know how to chase leaks and I know every bolt and part and have touched nearly all of them on this tractor.
    The Onan is actually a P218. The previous owner made that dreaded mistake and let his brother borrow it. It then came back to him with no oil in it, a blown engine. He found the P218 as a replacement.
    Since I have had it I have fixed on it every since I got it. And it was the first tractor to get my version one of my Travel Control Linkage. That one eventually got version 2 with a smaller end joint that I use now it is still a huge improvement.
    The tractor has had all the 1/4" pressure hoses changed, yes, even all 4 of the power steering lines. That is a job. I constantly fix and improved on the tractor itself the whole time I owned it. But, it was improving that tractor. The tractor has been very reliable.
    The engine bore when I checked it was very smooth, That is actually not good. Ideally, you can still see cross-hatching. I was also having to add oil before the 50 hours were up. I started by rebuilding the Kohler engines and got used to running the oil until it was low and then changing it. The Onan needed a rebuild. Other than having to buy a bearing driver set and making a gear puller it was just another engine. It had 2 holes instead of one. The machine shop barely charges more for that. Setup is where all the time is at. The bore was good enough that I ended up with a freshly honed cylinder that could still use stock-sized rings. Machine shop hones also make a perfect circle. The only worn bearings I found were the cam bearings. So, a long story the engine has a fresh rebuild. I do not track the hours on the oil. I use synthetic oil after the break-in period. And I change the oil when it finally gets to the add mark on the dipstick. The oil is still nearly transparent. All gaskets and such were made in the USA.
    Then I have my add-ons. It has my J26 3 point that I changed the linkage system on so that it was not possible for the links to ever hit the tire and went from 1/2" to 5/8" beefy hardware.
    I also added the selector valve that separates the mid-lift cylinder from the 3-point cylinder. Once you get just one taste of the benefit the couple hundred dollars and time are the best money spent on a Case/Ingersoll tractor.
    Lastly, the paint was original. It was just starting to get some rust breaking through the paint. The hood and rear panels got sanded past the rust and final coated with factory paint with the hardener in it. The real reason I did the paint is that I power washed a big part of the hood decals off. I am a paint does not make a tractor work better guy. But, I had to make her pretty and replace that decal.
    So, I have a blinged-out, engine rebuilt, tractor rebuilt, and some fresh 10-foot painting into it. Time and materials are one of those where you just say a lot, it's a lot.
    So, it is a for-real 4018PS with a 3-point, F27 sleeve hitch adapter, rear hydraulic PTO, and selector valve. Everything fresh.
    Just to replace all the steering hoses with the midlift hoses, parts, and labor is around ,000. Then there are the options added in. It is over ,000 for the engine work.
    This has been my everyday tractor for many years. It has been ready to sell since late winter. I just cannot stop jumping on it first. Now do not get me wrong. My 4020PS with the same features with the exception of the rear PTO being under the seat is great and I really wanted it. But, the old steed just called to me first.
    I have people waiting for me to work on their stuff. I actually make money on that instead spend it replacing all the parts on my own tractors.
    And no, I am not interested in any trades. And no, I will not ship it for you. Sorry. I just do not have a way to put it on a pallet and drop it off somewhere.
