(AH 739-752, 1338-1351 AD) in the period
of
Rival Khans
in
Ilkhanate.
It was minted in AH 741 (
1340
AD) in
Bagdad City
.
Ilkhanate was a khanate established from the
southwestern sector
of the
Mongol Empire.
The Ilkhanid realm was ruled by the Mongol
House of Hulagu.
In the 1330s, Ilkhanate was ravaged by the Black Death.
Its last khan Abu Sa'id died in 1335,
after which
the khanate disintegrated
.
Togha Timur
was
a claimant to the throne
of the Ilkhanate in the mid-14th century.
Of the many individuals, who attempted to become Ilkhan after the death of Abu Sa'id,
was
the last major candidate
who was the
House of Genghis Qaan.
His base of power was Gurgan and western Khurasan.
His name means "
Bowl/Pot Iron
" in the Mongolian language.
