GREAT MONGOL EMPIRE. THE FAMOUS CHINGIZ KHAN (GHENGIS KHAN ). AH 602-624/AD 1206-1227. Anonymous, AR Dirham, NM, ND, jital style, undetermined eastern mint, probably struck 630s and/or 640s. A-1978K, Z-123963. Inscribed on the obverse in Persian, be-qovvat-e aferidegar-e 'alam, "by the power of the Creator of the world", and citing the Abbasid caliph al-Mustansir (623-640) on the reverse. One of the earliest Islamic precious metal coins with legends inscribed in the Persian language. Rare piece and none in market currently.
