    Description

Decolonization was not a smooth process, to put it nicely.
After WW2, the former colonial powers hardly had the means to keep control over their colonies, having blown it all up in two world wars.
This resulted in hundreds of new nations throughout the world who the US and Soviet Union jockeyed for influence over in the greater Cold War.
Decolonization also left a massive power vacuum for a variety of insurgent groups, mercenaries, and other colorful “adventurers” to operate under, and occasionally things got so out of hand that the former occupiers had to intervene militarily.
This was the case in the Congo Crisis (1960 - 1965), a brutal conflict involving mercenaries, a break-away state (Katanga), UN peacekeepers, and even Belgian Paracommandos jumping in to rescue hostages in Operation Dragon Rouge.
The hood in this listing come from the same time period.
It is in the Belgian Brushstroke camouflage pattern, derived from the British Denison of WW2 fame, and heavily used by all factions in the Belgian Congo.
The hood is designed to button into the heavy, overbuilt para smock (obviously NOT INCLUDED).
The brushstroke hood is in excellent condition and was likely never used.
