1869 STATE OF SC 00 STOCK CERT UNISSUED TO REBUILD THE STATE AFTER CIVIL WAR

Description

This is a stock certificate or bond issued by the State of SC in 1869 to help the state to recover from the Civil War.  This bond was unissued and cancelled with a cut cancel (X cut) just above and through the Governor's signature.  The bond itself measures 14 x 8 1/2 inches with an additional 4 inch receipt attached which can be folded back to frame if desired.  It is in good condition and will flatten out nicely.  There are vignettes of Washington, a negro picking cotton, a sailing ship and state seal, etc.  Shipping includesinsurance.
